Toolbar features

How does the Highlight feature work?
The highlight feature easily allows you to locate your search terms on the search results page(s). Clicking the "Highlight" button will highlight all your search terms in different colors (up to 5) on the search results page. If you elect to keep the "Highlight" turned on, it will highlight those search terms on all web (HTML) pages whether they are accessed through the Indiabar Toolbar, your web browser, or other sources. The highlight feature is a toggle switch that may be turned "on" or "off" simply by clicking on it.
If you would like to highlight other terms on the web page, type the word(s) you would like highlighted in the search box (do not click the "Enter" key) and click anywhere on the web page; the new term will automatically be highlighted.
Note: In order to make web pages easier to scan for important keywords, the following terms will not appear highlighted unless they are entered in the Toolbar search box as single keyword queries or appear in a "phrase" that has been entered into the Toolbar search box using quotes (""): a, and, as, at, I, an, in, is, of, or, the, to.

How do I move my Toolbar?
To move your Toolbar, simply click on the separator bar to the left of the Ask Jeeves logo and drag the Toolbar to the desired location.

Please note that on Internet Explorer 6.0 that the toolbars are locked by default. In this case the separator icon will not appear, and the toolbars will be immobile, until you right click on the toolbars and uncheck "Lock the Toolbars".

How do I use the popup blocker?
The 'Popup blocker' will automatically prevent any popups appearing on your computer screen; by default it is in the 'on' (raised) position. To allow popups, click the button. This will turn the Popup blocker to the off (indented) position.

You can see whether the popup blocker is on by noting that the button is depressed. Additionally, when popups are blocked, the button counter will increase.

I have allowed popups to appear for a site – why are they still being blocked?
Not every popup on a site is necessarily owned by that site. If the 'allowed' site displays popups from 3rd parties (ie. popups owned by someone else), those popups will continue to be blocked when the popup blocker is 'on'. To ensure you see ALL popups on a given site (whether they are owned by the site itself, OR by a 3rd party), turn the popup blocker 'off'.

Why have the features on my Toolbar changed suddenly?
Periodically, Indiabar will automatically upgrade the toolbar to include the latest new search technology and features. Occasionally this may mean older or less-popular features are removed to make way for the new features our users have asked for.

Installation

I've installed the Indiabar Toolbar, but I can't find it. Where is it?
If you do not see your Toolbar click the "View" button on your browser, select "Toolbars" and click on the Indiabar Bar option.

If you are running an earlier version of IE 5.0 (without service packs), your Ask Jeeves Toolbar may be listed in the "Toolbars" menu as "Radio" (if there are two "Radio" options, please click on the second option).

After I have installed my Indiabar Toolbar, my other Toolbar has disappeared. How can I get it back?
You can view more than one Toolbar at a time and neither Toolbar will interfere with the other. To activate your other Toolbar click the "View" button on your browser, select "Toolbars" and click on the name of the Toolbar you are no longer seeing.

Since installing the Indiabar Toolbar, my browser has begun to randomly crash. What's happening?
If you are experiencing browser problems, please try upgrading to the latest IE browser. The other possibility is that you have another 3rd party browser plug-in that when combined with the Toolbar is causing your browser to randomly crash. If you want to continue using the Toolbar, please uninstall the other browser plug-in.

How can I find out when a new version is available?
For your convenience, the Indiabar Toolbar is dynamically upgradeable. This means that instead of you having to download a new version of the Indiabar Toolbar whenever additional features or functionality are made available, these features will be automatically added as non-active options to your Toolbar.

When I try to install the Indiabar Toolbar on WindowsNT or Windows2000, it fails. What's happening?
If you're using WindowsNT or Windows2000, check that you have the Administrative privileges required to install applications. If you are unsure of the status of your system privileges, check with your system administrator.

I've tried several times to install the Indiabar Toolbar, but it still fails. What should I do?
Have you checked to see if your problem is addressed by any of the others listed on this FAQ? If your installation problem is not addressed by this FAQ, please send an email detailing the problem to support@indiabar.com.

Why do I get a Security Warning that asks me if I want to install and run the Indiabar Toolbar?
The security settings on your computer are set so that you are prompted before installing any program. The dialog box is asking you to confirm that you want to install the Indiabar Toolbar; click "Yes."

Why do I get an ActiveX error message when I try to install the Indiabar Toolbar?
You probably have your Internet security settings on High. This setting will prevent ActiveX controls from running. In order to install the Indiabar Toolbar, you must have ActiveX controls enabled. In order to do this:
  1. Click the Tools menu on your browser
  2. Go to Internet Options and click on the Security Tab
  3. Click the Internet icon in the window
  4. If you see that your security setting is already Medium, skip to step 8 below
  5. If you see a sliding bar, move it to Medium
  6. If you see Custom setting information, click on the Default Level button and then move the slider to Medium
  7. Click OK
  8. Install the Indiabar Toolbar again
